C-box cooling fan

A noise was heard after shutdown from a two hour flight. This was found upon inspection of the C-box cooling fan. No temp lights illumiated for the transmission, although it did show signs of over temping. Debris was scattered through the aft pylon area and took a few hours to clean it all out. If the C-box had failed, it would have been catastrophic, since the bladses would have come out of phase. The reason for failure is unknown.

Mi-8 HIP

Two HIPs landed today and stayed over night due to the inclement weather. They belong to the local Afgan army. I got a chance to walk up to them and take a closer look. I love Russian built airplanes, they are so foreign to me. I had to fight the urge to climb all over it and get a closer look at how "they do things". The aircraft was in poor condition, filthy dirty and unairworthy to our standards. The extended range fuel system consisted of a 55 gallon drum of fuel in the cabin.

mini RC helicopter

Alexis sent this to me as a gift. It flies pretty well, and everyone gets a kick watching me crash.
Right before it almost took my eye out.

1930 Coupe - Traditional Hotrod

I found this car on craigslist. Turns out a friend of a friend was selling it so I bought it. Its chopped, channeled and Z'ed, just like a hot rod should be. Its powered by a mercury flathead engine with twin 97 stromberg carbs. It will be a project to finish when I come home in 7 months....

Bagram Afghanistan..

Ive been here for approx 5 months now. Working as a civilian contractor performing aircraft maintenance. The winter is almost over now, it was a real bitch too...we are all looking forward to spring.
